Alan Zhang is a Director at IEQ Capital, where he brings a decade of experience advising ultra-high-net-worth families, founders, and family offices on asset allocation, investment strategy, manager due diligence, and integrated wealth planning. He works with clients to design and implement customized investment programs across public and private markets, with a focus on alternative investments, tax-aware portfolio construction, OCIO and family office solutions, concentrated stock planning, and estate, tax, and liquidity planning considerations.
Prior to joining IEQ Capital, Mr. Zhang helped build the OCIO platform at Kestra Holdings, a wealth management platform with approximately $140 billion in assets under advisory. As a founding portfolio manager, he helped scale the OCIO platform, Kestra Investment Management, from inception to $4 billion in assets under management over three years. Earlier in his career, he was a member of the research department at Edward Jones, a financial services firm with $2.2 trillion in client assets under care. At Edward Jones, he was one of the founding members of the firm’s asset allocation and portfolio construction team and contributed to the investment framework supporting the firm’s fee-based advisory investment portfolios.
Mr. Zhang earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis, where he studied finance and statistics, and a Master of Information and Data Science from the University of California, Berkeley. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst®, Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst, and Certified Financial Planner® designations.
Mr. Zhang lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife, Grace, and their two dogs.
