Ryan Patterson is a Managing Director at IEQ Capital, where he guides wealthy families on investment management, estate planning, charitable initiatives, and tax-efficient wealth strategy. He works closely with clients to coordinate across their broader advisory relationships, striving for a holistic and disciplined approach to preserving and growing multigenerational wealth in alignment with unique client’s needs.
In addition to his direct client service, Mr. Patterson plays an active role in shaping IEQ’s investment platform. He serves on several of the firm’s key committees, spanning investment, risk, and advisory functions. In these roles, he regularly conducts due diligence on new and existing investment opportunities across public and private markets and provides insight into global economic and market trends in contribution to the development of investment strategies.
Mr. Patterson began his career in finance as an Associate Director at First Republic Wealth Management and, in 2019, transitioned to IEQ Capital as a founding team member.
Mr. Patterson received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley and is a Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) candidate.
Outside of his professional career, he represented his home country of South Africa in men’s Gymnastics at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games and maintains a focus on fitness and healthy living, often traveling to compete in athletic challenges.
He now lives in San Francisco, California with his wife.
