Sam Shephard is a Partner at IEQ Capital and has provided investment advice to ultra-high-net-worth entrepreneurs, C-suite executives, multigenerational families, and institutional investors for nearly two decades. Mr. Shephard also serves on IEQ’s Investment Committee, where he contributes to portfolio construction, manager selection, and firm efforts to source and conduct due diligence on investment opportunities.
Mr. Shephard works closely with his clients in areas spanning management of concentrated positions in both public and private markets, liquidity planning, and risk management. He also has experience providing investment advice on emerging asset classes such as bitcoin and digital assets. In close coordination with clients’ tax and legal advisors he provides guidance on complex estate structures and strategies involving Qualified Small Business Stock (QSBS), opportunity zone investments, and tax-loss planning.
Mr. Shephard began his career working alongside the IEQ Capital Founding Partners while at Luminous Capital, an independent registered investment advisory firm. Luminous Capital managed $5.5 billion in assets when it was acquired by First Republic Bank in 2012. At First Republic Bank, Mr. Shephard served as Vice President and Wealth Manager.
Mr. Shephard holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Vanderbilt University.
He is a Los Angeles native and currently resides in Mar Vista, California with his wife.
