Scott Gutterman is a Managing Director of IEQ Capital and has provided investment advice to high-net-worth families for over two decades. He also sits on the Investment Committee at IEQ Capital. In his role, he advises C-suite executives, entrepreneurs, and general partners, aligning our services with the unique needs of individuals in these positions. For qualified clients, he leads teams that deliver family office services and solutions.
Mr. Gutterman began his career as an investment banker working for Bank of America in its Mergers & Acquisitions Group. After completing his graduate studies, he worked for Merrill Lynch & Co. in the Leveraged Finance Group and Financial Sponsors Group in New York City and San Francisco.
Mr. Gutterman started his wealth management career in 2003 working in private banking at Credit Suisse Securities. Prior to joining IEQ, he was a private wealth adviser and senior portfolio manager at UBS Private Wealth Management co-managing a billion-dollar multi-family office advisory practice.
Mr. Gutterman and his family support several non-profits focused on education, at-risk children, nutrition and wellness, and protecting the environment. He previously served on the Board of Trustees and was Chair of the Investment Committee for Gateway Public Schools, a charter school in San Francisco. Additionally, he served two terms on the Marin Academy Investment Committee.
Mr. Gutterman earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Economics from the University of California at Santa Barbara and his M.B.A from the Darden Graduate School of Business of the University of Virginia.
Mr. Gutterman enjoys swimming, functional fitness and living-roof gardening during his free time. He lives in San Francisco, California where he and his wife raised two children.
